Identify Movement Impairments
We observe your pedal stroke, seat and arm positions to find patterns specific to your flexibility, strength, joint mobility, and neuromuscular control. From that analysis, we are able to determine if your cycling form, shoes, saddle height are all appropriate for your movement needs.
Joint Freedom Throughout the Pedal Stroke
We use the Delsys Trigno Wireless EMG System to conduct dynamic muscle contraction comparisons and provide real-time feedback for cyclist’s movement and skills training. We also deploy the Gebiomized Pressure Analysis System to illuminate contact pressure mapping of the saddle, feet and hand contact.
We perform a thorough physical assessment of the runner both statically on the treatment table and dynamically while running. This enables us to identify a detailed problem list of potential areas that are or could contribute to an injury and/or decreased performance. Informed by years of experience and backed by research, we’ve developed a comprehensive approach to isolate issues and improve performance. Identify Movement Impairments
A movement impairment is an abnormal movement pattern that may contribute to a person's complaint of pain, tightness, stiffness, or decreased performance. We observe everything about your running from head- to-toe to find movement patterns that may lead to unnecessary stresses and/or forces on your body. We factor in flexibility, strength, joint mobility, and neuromuscular control and how it may be contributing to any visible movement impairments. From our detailed analysis, we are able to determine if your running form/shoes are appropriate for your movement needs.
Perfect One's Stride
Chances are, no one taught you how to run when you were a kid. As children, running was as intuitive as our need to climb trees and eat sweets. But, we know that not all running styles are created equal, and many of us have imbalances we are not even aware of, which is why a gait analysis can not only be informative, but also a highly effective way to fix the problem(s).
Factoring Ground Reaction Force with Friction Force
To help you to reach your next goal, we replicate ground running on the treadmill. With our technology, we are able to map your stride and strike to see detailed information on not only friction, but pressure as well. This analysis helps us to create an effective mitigation plan so you diminish injury potential and become more efficient.
Manual Therapy Skills
The father of Manual Therapy, Irvin Korr, had the following to say about the practice. "Application of an accurately determined and specifically directed manual force to the body, in order to improve mobility in areas that are restricted; in joints, in connective tissues or in skeletal muscles." we employ joint manipulation, joint and soft tissue mobilization, to help patients recover and get back to their mobility.
Dry needling is a technique using a filiform needle design to illicit a trigger point, or Local Twitch Response (LTR), to help relieve multiple contraction knots. This action helps relieve pain when “an involuntary spinal cord reflex in which the muscle fibers in the taut band of muscle contract.” (Karel Lewit) We use this technique in patients comfortable with the practice for whom LTR are beneficial.
Advanced Biomechanical Knowledge
At BUILD, we are keenly interested in the actions of force, whether in terms of stride, foot strike, or pedal stroke. Mechanics of action and rest gives us the ability to pinpoint the causes and conditions of injuries and repetitive stress. With that in depth analyses, we are then able to create an action plan to fix weaknesses, correct imbalances and compensations and address performance issues.

We deploy the Simi Aktisys High Speed Motion Analysis System to provide real time visualization and quantitative diagnosis of a runner’s 2D joint motion. This allows for immediate feedback and skills training while in studio. Combined with the Qualisys 8 Miqus 3D Motion Capture Camera System, we get a full-body 3D motion analysis and online running analysis report of a runner at 250 fps.
